The back office I could not buy.

I am an accountant with a technical background. I built erpsoftware.app because the program I wanted for my own work did not exist at a sane price.

Why I built it

As an accountant I kept running into the same wall. The standard packages were rigid: they worked as long as the company worked the way the package had in mind. The moment a business needed something of its own, such as an extra approval step, a different chart of accounts or a VAT situation outside the usual, the answer was a workaround in a spreadsheet.

The alternative was a custom system, and for that the quotes were absurd: implementation projects, a price per user, and a consultant for every change. Far too much money for what is, in the end, a quote that becomes an invoice, an invoice that becomes a booking and bookings that become a VAT return.

Because I also have a technical background, I stopped being annoyed and built it myself.

What I wanted it to be

  • Flexible where companies differ. Your own chart of accounts, your own VAT setup, your own roles and approval rules.
  • Strict where the books demand it. Real double entry, entries that are reversed and never edited, locked periods, an audit file.
  • Fairly priced. One flat price per company, so nobody has to share a login to save money.
  • Yours. Open formats, full export, and the option to run it on your own server.

What it is, and is not

It is a back office: sales, purchases, books, VAT and cashflow. It does not manage stock, warehouses or production.
